This song actually conly consists of three parts: the verse part, the chorus part, and the very short intermediate part. Each part consists of the different chord progression, all in A major. What attracts me about the chord progressions is that they are quite unusual as they reach not only the harmonic scale in major and minor region, but also some strange chromatic combinations (for example: the pressence of F major in A major after descending from B minor). The verse progression also includes the strange but harmonic Aaug chord, which prvides a good variation even though the melody only uses the usual major scale.
The instruments used in this song: accoustic guitar (rhytm), fingered bass, drum, electric organs and strings (orchestra arranged). The arrangement is quite good thought it is a bit boring. The organs are really not dominant and hard to hear, whereas they can improve in some parts of the song. There is also an electric guitar, but it is only played in few short parts and playing bass progression. The synthetizer arrangement is excellent, strengthening the melancholic impression fo the song. The rhytm secion is quite solid, though the drum can still add more variations.
The singer and songwritter, Yamazaki Masayoshi, provides a good lead vocal by using his melancholic, bariton voice. His breath is actually not too long, but he overcomes it with good breathing techniques and clever deception melodies.
