I always have a big question in my mind: what makes human different from other creatures? Human beings have consicence, but they can be harsher than animals. Human beings have far better capabilities to exploit the nature, but they are also very stupid because they are using their technology to destroy the only planet they can live in until now.
What causes human to have intention? I don't believe that all the wills that we have are based merely on the basic animal instinct which is to survive. Men don't live to survive; they live to live, not only keep their heart beating as long as they can. And men don't just mate with their partners; they fall in love, there are break-ups and tragic romantic stories. Men don't just kill each other to survive and to conquer; they work together to improve their livings.
Is it the ego that the Buddha said? Buddha Gautama taught mankind that to live is to suffer as long as we have this abstract thing called ego. Ego will create desires, which are bad for our soul. We have to work hard and meditate to erase our ego. That is the only way to reach Nirvana, which I intrepet as the best mental state that a man can have in this materialistic world.
Shall I stick to Christianity? Jesus had the most wonderful explanation of the world that I have ever known. Jesus taught that there is God, our Father in Heaven, who are willing to do anything four our salvation so we are assured a place in His Kingdom after our death. His Kingdom will last forever. Christianity, for me personally, is the most beautiful religion of all. It teaches us to love thy enemy, forgive those who have wronged us, and so on. Nothing in this world can challenge its Golden Rule. It is the best form of Humanity. It is the most idealistic one and sometimes, the most unrealistic one too.
I also see that Islam and Jews are very similar to Christianity, so I also put them into the same category, the deistic and humanitarian beliefs. Sadly, many of those religions' followers have used those beautfiul teachings to create wars and bloodshed. Not all of them, but it is so pitiful to see many trouble makers and murderers use God and His religions as their shield to cover their crimes.
Or is it the Will to Power as Schopenhauer and Nietzsche describe? Or is it Freud's Odypeus Complex, Jung's inferiority syndrome, or Sartre's nihilism? Do we have free will? Are we a brain in a vat? What does it mean to be conscious and to be dreaming? Is it useful to do science because this world is not eternal?
I will try to express my opinions in my ability to answer one of the life questions. As a person who believe in Moral Laws and exact purpose of life. Maybe my answer will lead to more questions that will trap myself in the dungeon of philosophy. Who knows....
